Technical Structure

Up Next

All members of the Technical Group are Licensed annually by the MSA.

Because of the technological advances in materials and design, coupled with the rapid evolution and complexity of technical regulations, licensing will also relate to the various categories shown. The objective is to provide a better match of experience and qualifications of the Official to the task required of them, as well as assisting the promoting club to contact the persons most suitable for their events.

In order that Scrutineers and Technical Commissioners meet the ever increasing demands of Motorsport, it is clearly essential that standards be safeguarded. To this end Chief Scrutineers are required to monitor attendance and performance of Scrutineering personnel at their events.

Maintenance and upgrading, details of job descriptions for all Scrutineer grades and the requirements for grade maintenance and upgrading are available from the Technical Department at the MSA.

The Trainee Scrutineer is most important, since this Group will provide the senior officials of the future. Their potential, enthusiasm and commitment will be properly assessed before appointment to Scrutineer; in the meantime, though not listed in the MSA Yearbook, nor eligible for expenses, they will be registered with the MSA. It is urged that suitable candidates are actively recruited, and 'on-the-job' training and experience provided through Chief Scrutineers of clubs and events. Conversely, Trainee Scrutineers should seek tutors and mentors to help them progress.
